Matthew Reed Henderson

On September 22, 2011, in Eureka, Nevada, Matthew Reed Henderson, the light that has been my life, has finally escaped the demons that have been chasing him for so many years.

Matt came into this world on March 19, 1971 in Kanab, UT, the first child of the Morrene June Bias (Stewart) and Dean Henderson.  He was a happy, fun-loving child.  He always enjoyed playing with and fixing cars and trucks.  This continued into adulthood, as he took this love into his life profession as an auto mechanic.

He moved to Reno as a young man to work alongside of his father as a mechanic.  He thoroughly enjoyed watching NASCAR with his mom at his side, yelling and screaming for their favorite drivers Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. racing around the track wishing he could be there in the pits.  In 2007, Matt was able to go to Mooresville North Carolina, and attend NASCAR Technical Institute.  At the time of his death he was restoring a 1970 MG Midget.  Matt’s lights are now dimmed for all his friends and family, as he makes that last lap to victory lane, he shall be missed for his loving heart and contagious smile.

Matt is survived by his mother, Morrene Stewart of Fernley, NV; father and step-mother, Dean and Vickie Henderson; his sister Amanda Henderson; brother and sister-in-law Joe and Dawn Henderson; nephews, Kyle and James Henderson, and “little brother” Travis Ybarra; all of Reno, NV.

Matt has a huge family of aunts, and uncles, cousins and many friends he called family, too numerous to list each but a special mention must be made for his “harem”…the girl cousins, that were his best friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Morris A. Bias of Phoenix, AZ; Marge (MacLean) Bias, who has been waiting to meet her grandson for the first time; his Grandma and Grandpa “Z” - Charles and Lola Zielinski, of Kanab, UT and his paternal grandparents, Reed and Elda Henderson of Kanab, UT.

The viewing will be held Friday, September 30, 2011 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Mountain View Mortuary at 425 Stoker Avenue, Reno Nevada.  Funeral Services will be held on Monday, October 3, 2011 at 10:00 AM, at Mountain View Mortuary followed by burial at Mountain View Cemetery in Reno Nevada.
