Angela Rinaldi, wife of late husband Valentino Rinaldi, passed away peacefully on Sunday, the 22nd of August, in the home of her eldest son in Sparks, Nevada. She was 86 years young.Born in 1924 in Andretta, Italy, Angela’s life adventures took her to Rome where she met and married Valentino, in 1947, and then sailed then to Boston, Massachusetts, where they started their life together. She then moved to Southern California in 1952, joining her husband in his new career as an aeronautical engineer.
Angela was a faithful, devoted wife and mother, good friend and neighbor. She took the utmost care of her household, learned to speak English, dared to get her driver’s license, and began a profitable daycare business.
Angela loved to cook and garden, taking great pride in her tomatoes, herbs, as well as fruit trees. She blessed her family and friends on numerous occasions with her Italian cuisine, especially her famous spaghetti sauce, eggplant and lasagna.
Years later she worked for American Airlines in their catering kitchen in LAX, which allowed them travel benefits, enjoying trips across the U.S. and abroad to Ireland and Italy. Angela and her husband retired and moved from Hawthorne, CA to Reno, NV in 1988.
She will be remembered for her many wonderful qualities including her spicy sense of humor, her selfless generosity, and most of all, her big heart.
She is survived by her four children and their families: Vivian Rinaldi, her son Michael Sweeney and grandson, Michael Sweeney Jr.; John Rinaldi and wife Jackie, and their sons Jacob Rinaldi, partner Chelsea Nietz and son Kyle; Jeff Rinaldi and wife Ariana, and their sons Eric and Ryan; Jason Rinaldi and wife Nicole; Kathi Hughes and husband John, and their son, Martin; Ron Rinaldi and his girls Amy and Christy, his wife Helen, and their son Christopher.
Funeral services will be held in Reno on Thursday, August 26th at Ross, Burke and Knobel Mortuary at 5:00 PM.
