Patty Burton-Graves passed away on Jan. 18, 2012. Her life was rich and adventurous. Patty's continuous travels enabled her to develop friendships around the world. She was born to Clara Stoddard Patterson, and Lyle Spottswood Patterson on April 4, 1923 in New York, NY.
After living in Southern California, she spent the majority of her life in and around the San Francisco Bay Area. Patty's passion for dancing prompted her to dance with several organizations. She met two of her husbands through the "Merry Mixers". Her husband of twenty-seven years, Warren Wyburn Graves, passed away Christmas of 2010. Patty deeply missed her beloved dance partner with his warm gentle love. Four husbands and two borthers preceded her in death.
Patty "Happy" Patterson achieved her master's degree, summa cum laud, from San Francisco State and taught in Oakland, CA for 25 years. She passed her love of teaching on to daughter Cynthia Fox (Danny), grandson Brett Barry (Dina), granddaughters Jennifer Valdez (Joseph) and Valerie Connors (Micheal). Patty was proud of her "Modern Family". Daughters Candice Maich and Corinne DiLabio are both accomplished in the business world. Granddaughter Gina Fox has worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 25 years. Grandson Scott Mahoney is a professional baseball umpire. She will be remembered by GGreat granddaughters: Sabrina Valdez, a college student with a promising photography career; Abigail Barry, a superior student with a prowess in sports; and Kaleigha Valdez, a very successful student with musical talents.
Patty lived her last year rehabilitating from a stroke, but never lost that brilliant smile and joie de vivre. The Cascades of the Sierra staff was very supportive. Special thanks to: Jen, a physical therapist from Renown, for her patience and "can do" attitude; Karen from Renown Wound Clinic who made the biggest contribution and will be cherished forever.
