Joseph Richard Hunter,"Dick", long time Fallon resident, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on Monday, January 9, 2012. with his family by his side. Dick was born in San Bernardino, Ca. to Joseph and Georgina Hunter. He moved to Fallon from Oregon in 1966. He was a trucker most of his life, hauling gravel, logging and road construction. After his retirement he worked at the Ponderosa Ranch, a hobby job, he loved. He was a behind the scenes worker, making sure that all the old cars and equipment kept in running order. He was an encyclopedia for old Ford vehicles, a passion since a very young age. He loved collecting rocks, enhancing the landscape on his property.He enjoyed talking about the places he had traveled and people he had met and he gave them all special names. His real passion was his children, who he loved dearly. Preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Judy Hunter and sister, Cathy.
Dick is survived by his daughter, Debbie (Del); sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen (Karen) ; Dwayne (Brenda); Dwight (Teresa) all of Fallon; 8 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; brother, Leslie (Margie) Hunter of Arkansas; sister Marilyn (Bob) Rodefer of Carson, City, Nv. ; mother of his children, Mary Hunter of Fallon.
